Below is the brocheure I mailed out to potential sponsors of my trip to Uganda this year with Forefront church and LEAD Uganda. In it I share my experiences from my last trip to Uganda and all I’ve been doing since. To make donating for my trip more ‘interesting’ I put together a system in play where the sponsors will receive various Ugandan themed gifts for their financial...

I still can’t get over putting together professional looking travel books. This New Zealand one was created using the awesome book publishing software provide by Blurb. The only bummer to using Blurb is that don’t offer many coupons throughout the year like their competitors, so when you’re creating a handful of hardcover books, the price can quickly escalate.

The things you learn when not at home
While traveling to the not-so-distant lands of Canada to ring in the new year, I had an epiphany. One that shook me to the core. ‘I live in New York City but I don’t really live like I’m in  New York City.’ Does that make sense? I grew up here and most times it’s hard for me to grasp how awesome this city is. I take it for granted. So many of my friends come from...

Why more Americans don't travel abroad →
Here’s an interesting article taking a look at why many Americans don’t travel. To be fair, America is diverse enough to keep you entertained for a good awhile.

must travel with friends
Ever since my husband and I went on a road trip with a bunch of  friends last year I’ve been obsessed. It’s one of the funniest ways to travel. I’ve done road trips prior but they were always more grueling then adventurous.  Anywho, here is a quick photo summary of places I’ve gone with friends this past year. New Zealand | 2010 Buffalo, NY | 2010 | Duffs and Niagara...

Spain has a very special place in my heart. This country was the first time I’ve gone overseas knowing absolutely no one..well my husband was with me but besides him, I knew no one. It was great soaking in the newness of everything and oh the culture! Simply splendid. I’m eager to go back but Jacob’s interested in seeing other countries before making a second trip. Boo!

processing....
Its been four days since I’ve returned from my trip to Uganda. So much to process still from this trip. I really don’t know where to start. At first, I thought of posting some of the photos from the trip but for whatever reason I’m not going to do that. I feel a bit of unrest. Well now, dealing with jet lag, stomach issues, returning to work, and all the stuff I left behind is...

Wonders never cease
I can’t believe, this is only the end of day 2! I feel like I’ve been here for weeks!! The students here are simply amazing. The hugs, smiles, holding hands has been refreshing. So many wonderful personalities here. Being here makes me realize how little interactions I have with children back home. The kids are keeping me sharp and on my toes. I LOVE it! Today, I held my photography...

Feels like the night before the first day of school. So excited for what tomorrow will bring that I can’t go to bed. I’ve kept myself busy these past couple of days, perfecting my lesson plan, purchasing supplies, reading up on Uganda culture and whatnot. In all of the busyness, I’ve made attempts to stop to allowed myself time to stop and really really think about this trip but...

Countdown
I leave for Uganda in 8 days and I haven’t even began to pack yet. Yikes! I’ve been swamp with the typical summer ‘to-dos’ of hanging out and enjoy the company of friends and family that time has flown by too quickly. My goal for today is to write a comprehensive packing list. Wish me luck!
